Today I will tell something about our mold problem ;-). Anyone who has read the blog will have noticed that we had a very high humidity in the house. There are several reasons: the delay in the construction had to cut it all go very fast. The house had no time for airing before we started with the flooring have. By Euromacdach the roof is extremely tight. The same applies to the window and the rest of the house. Good for heating costs, bad for the humidity if you have no ventilation system as we do.
We tried regularly 2 times a day to air. The humidity went down very slowly, but was still meisst in the range 70% - 80%. It is hardly surprising, of course not, as it began to grow mold on the walls.
I am now even to speculate how this has developed, our laminate is laid with insulation and vapor barrier. So could not get out so directly. All the moisture is therefore fled to the edges and met the cold wall and the raw material of the end strips. Perhaps the final bars were already "contaminated", maybe not. I'm for sure that the mold has begun on the baseboards, and where the cabinets were too close to the wall, he then climbed to the top. Sometimes, however, also unmarked corners. There we finally found him one evening. Many small dark spots on the wall. The excitement was great and the first thing we removed all statutory bars were clearly afflicted (big mistake, we would rather throw away all should). The next day, all the cabinets emptied, moved into the middle of the room and then all the walls with a kind of chlorine cleaners scrubbed and thoroughly aired. This was not a good thing. Fortunately, the mildew was only superficial and not in the plaster. Then the cabinets were made up to 10 cm back on the wall. The mold was then once again as we had not thrown away all the final bars. There was still hidden mold. The moisture in the wall itself was ok, we had to be judged by an architect.
is approximately one year had passed since then. Meanwhile, the humidity at 55% - 65% reached. I do not know if that's fast or slow, but you can see at least a trend. The mold was not first again, but eventually comes the cold season yet.
Befallen was with us:
- The final bars upstairs
- Free corners on exterior walls upstairs
- outer walls behind cabinets upstairs
- wall beside the front door (where it moves in and there is too much water education came to the door frame)
- interior window frame of the window in the pointed bottom (after airing had collected there are a lot of moisture)
- next to the walls floor to ceiling windows upstairs
What have we done about it:
- all statutory bars in the floor out. They only come back here when the humidity remains stable at a good value (I am now by 50% if someone knows better numbers ... bring it on)
- Grey remove and walls with chlorine cleaners scrubbed
- regular ventilation (for 5 minutes every window in the house)
- is window in the loft after the airing drained
- at the front door, the seal changed, unfortunately, it still attracts so "Add dry" regularly
- all furniture on outside walls in the floor about 10 cm from the wall
have - regular monitoring of known locations and humidity
I can only advise all people who move without air conditioning in a well insulated house the humidity always to keep in mind.
